Shoppers search for "grey velvet sofas", and your shop already has that page: the Sofas category with two filters set. To a search engine it is only a filter address, with the category's heading and text and, from most SEO plugins, a canonical back to the plain category. This plugin turns the filter combinations you pick into real landing pages, at the address the filter already produces.
Free, GPL-2.0-or-later. Get it from the WordPress.org plugin directory.
How it works
Open a category in your shop, set the filters and choose "Make this a landing page" in the toolbar. Write a heading and an intro text, and if you like a text below the products, a title and a description for search results. From then on that filter combination shows your heading and text, and search engines see a page whose canonical points to itself.
What it does
- Works with WooCommerce's own filters: the "Filter Products by Attribute" widget and the Product Filters block.
- Prints a self-canonical and
index, followthrough Yoast SEO or Rank Math, or on its own without an SEO plugin. Every other filter combination stays as it was. - Recognises a combination in any form and uses one canonical form everywhere: in the canonical tag, the links and robots.txt.
- Refuses what cannot be a landing page, such as a price filter, a duplicate or a combination without products, and says why.
- Adds "Popular filters" links to the landing pages on their category page, so that search engines find them.
- Shows the robots.txt lines to copy: filter addresses blocked, each landing page allowed.
- Clears WP Rocket and LiteSpeed Cache when a landing page changes, and offers a shortcode for page builders.
What it does not do
It does not change filter addresses that are not landing pages, does not write robots.txt or a sitemap, and builds landing pages on product categories only. It makes no external requests and needs no account. When another SEO plugin than Yoast SEO or Rank Math is active, it leaves the page head alone, so nothing is printed twice.
robots.txt kept current for you, a sitemap of the landing pages, SEOPress, All in One SEO, The SEO Framework and Slim SEO, brand and tag archives, theme headers and more caches are in the paid add-on, Opuswerk Filter Landing Pages Pro.
